Senior Estimator - Civil

Location: Brooklyn, NY

Project Type: Heavy Civil / Public Infrastructure Projects (up to $100M)

Role Overview

Seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to lead pricing and preconstruction efforts for heavy civil and public infrastructure projects across New York City. This role focuses on multi-trade civil scopes including sitework, utilities, concrete, SOE, and earthwork on complex public-sector projects.

Projects are primarily delivered for major public agencies such as NYC Department of Transportation, MTA, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, SCA, NYCHA, and more.

This position suits a highly technical estimator with strong NYC civil market knowledge and the ability to manage large, competitive bids from concept through hard-bid submission.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed estimates for heavy civil and public works projects

  • Perform quantity takeoffs from civil, structural, and utility drawings

  • Develop conceptual budgets and hard-bid pricing up to $100M

  • Analyze bid documents and identify scope gaps and risk items

  • Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing

  • Support bid strategy, value engineering, and alternates

  • Maintain historical cost data and estimating benchmarks

  • Assist with project handoff to operations after award


Requirements

  • 7+ years experience estimating heavy civil or public infrastructure projects

  • Strong background in multi-trade civil scopes (sitework, utilities, concrete, earthwork)

  • Proven experience on NYC public-sector projects

  • Familiarity with agency bid processes (DOT, DDC, MTA, Port Authority)

  • Strong understanding of bid documents, drawings, and specifications

  • Ability to produce accurate, competitive bids under tight deadlines

  • Experience with estimating software and Excel-based takeoffs

  • Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills
