Senior Estimator — Heavy Civil

Role Overview

Seeking an experienced Senior Estimator with a strong heavy civil background to lead pricing and bid preparation for public and institutional infrastructure projects across NYC. This role focuses on self-performed civil scopes including SOE, foundations, concrete, earthwork, underpinning, trenching, and drainage, primarily on new construction projects.

Typical projects include parking garages, transformer buildings, school and athletic facilities, and public infrastructure, delivered both as a prime contractor and as a civil subcontractor to CMs and owners.

The firm works extensively with agencies such as NYC School Construction Authority, NYC Department of Design and Construction, NYC Department of Environmental Protection, and NYC Parks.

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete estimates for heavy civil and sitework scopes from drawings and specifications through final submission
• Perform detailed takeoffs and pricing for self-performed work (SOE, foundations, concrete, earthwork, utilities, drainage)
• Develop bid strategies and evaluate constructability and risk
• Price work with a subcontractor-level understanding of means, methods, and production
• Coordinate with operations to ensure clean handoff from preconstruction to field
• Maintain market pricing, vendor coverage, and competitive bid-day execution
• Utilize estimating software such as On-Screen Takeoff (or similar)

Requirements

• 7+ years estimating heavy civil / sitework / foundation projects in NYC
• Proven experience pricing self-performed civil scopes (not interiors-focused estimating)
• Background on public-sector or institutional projects preferred
• Strong understanding of production rates, labor, equipment, and material costs
• Track record of independently producing accurate, competitive bids
• Ability to work under tight deadlines with high attention to detail
